The aim of this unit is to provide the skills necessary for optimal decision-making in relation to warehouse design and operation. Basic concepts of warehouse models and processes are covered. Decisions concerning design, tactical and operational aspects of warehousing are discussed and their flow-on effects are studied. Design decisions involve layout issues as well as storage and retrieval transport mechanisms. Tactical decisions involve allocation and products to space.
